This does exactly what it says on the tin. As a humbucker, it's a medium output classic sound with a good bit of PAF/alnico "quack" and overall smooth character. As a single coil, it presents a more subdued attack and treble than if you went with a traditional strat bridge. That, of course, is where the magic lies because if you're one of many who can't stand how shrill that pickup can be, this will not only solve your woes, but add that humbucker option in there, too! A toggle for switching that up on the fly is definitely the way to go. It's now making me consider some Tone Rider single coils to finish off the rig in the middle and neck positions . . .
I've never had an hss strat so tried these in the bridge of one of mine. Gives the heat and tone I want in live situations for a strat bridge. It's really good. May be too hot for some but I like the sizzle.

Installed in my Strat and it has brought it life. Great Humbucker and single coil tones.
As a beginner guitarist, I bought a Yamaha Pacifica 012. Which allowed me to learn the basics. However, after a while I became less and less satisfied with the sound quality. It just wasn't up to the task anymore. So I changed the stock humbucker to a Tonerider Birmingham. It revitalized the guitar changing the sound from cold and metallic to warm and full. I also changed the capacitor to a 47nF styroflex, which is a match made in heaven. It will never be the best guitar in the world. However, with this upgrade, it has been given a new lease of life and will help me continue my guitar journey. All of that without breaking the bank.
